Requirements For Admission To The Nursing Program

 Satisfy the following requirements to be admitted to the Nursing Program:

  • Apply for admission to Santa Fe Community College through the Admissions Office.
  • Schedule an appointment with a program adviser. An adviser can provide specific guidance to help you achieve your academic goals.
  • Provide transcripts from high schools or colleges attended.
  • Complete the pre-requisites.
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or better in courses that are required for the AAS nursing degree, excluding fitness or math classes. Math and science courses must be no more than 5 years old at the time of acceptance into the nursing program.
  • Complete a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR course.
  • Request an application packet from the nursing department.

 

Please note:

  • Class size is limited and based upon space availability.
  • Pre-nursing program advisement with the nursing advisers is highly recommended regarding course prerequisites, requirements and the application process.
  • Because a strong foundation in science is necessary for nursing, you must achieve a minimum grade of "C" in the required behavioral/social sciences and math/science courses.
  • Selection is based upon multiple factors such as GPA, residency, etc.
