Students display their creations in fashion shows in town and in the Visual Arts Gallery on campus. A recent SFCC alum debuted her collection at New Mexico Fashion Week. The program offers yearly trips during Fashion Week to the famous Trade Mart in New York City, and the Fashion Design Club organizes other trips to domestic design marts in New York, Dallas and Las Vegas for focused study.

Fashion Design faculty members are practicing fashion and costumer designers, tailors, CAD specialists and product designers. Their currency in the fashion industry allows them to teach state-of-the-art fashion design. The SFCC design studio is a fully equipped, professional, fashion design production house; it is equipped with industrial sewing machines, cutting tables and industry specific dress forms.

SFCC is the only public college in New Mexico to offer a certificate in Fashion Design. With a certificate in fashion design, students may transfer to a 4-year college Many students in the program choose to study fashion and costume design for an entrepreneurial business, the stage and film industry or art/sculptural practice.

Crystal Rose Vickers, Fashion Design Student

I am 54 years old and have found myself starting life over. While most of my friends are beginning their retirement years, I am reinventing myself at SFCC, in the Fashion Design department. I was totally surprised at the opportunities at this small school. I can't say enough good things about the cost and professional teachings. Ezra Estes continues to help me while I pursue my new life. Sometimes life begins at 50. Santa Fe Fashion Design Week 2012
