Biological/Physical Sciences - School of Sciences, Health, Engineering and Math
About the Programs
If you’re motivated by intellectual curiosity, if "why" is one of your favorite words, SFCC’s Biological and Physical Sciences Program is your pathway to become a doctor, a bioengineer or a geologist. Choose among biology, exercise science, engineering, geology and more. In the biological sciences, you'll focus on life science, medicine, or ecology.
Explore physical sciences such as chemistry, mathematics, physics and geology; chemistry and physics can prepare you for a career in pharmaceuticals, medical research specialties or be applied to nearly any other field. Geology, which is related to the earth and atmosphere, is a high demand career field in New Mexico with its diverse natural environs.
The program is designed to prepare you to move on to a university and earn a bachelor's degree in the field. SFCC courses provide the basics as well as the core science requirements for a strong foundation. The courses are patterned after the lower-division courses at universities so you'll get the required general education courses, plus the core science requirements in biology, chemistry and physics.
