Public Programming at the Planetarium - 2012

Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for preteens and seniors; and free for SFCC students, SFCC employees and planetarium members. Tickets go on sale at the door 30 minutes before each program. Shows begin promptly; latecomers are not admitted. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Regular programs are not suitable for children under 5 years old.

1 at 7-8 p.m. - Backyard Astronomy. Enjoy a live presentation in the planetarium followed by an outdoor viewing of the night sky, if weather permits. 8 and 15 at 7-8 p.m. - The New Milky Way. Our galaxy, piece by piece. Stars: Cosmic clocks, the halo, the core and the disk. Join us to learn more about our home place.

5 at 8-9 p.m.- Backyard Astronomy. Enjoy a live presentation in the planetarium followed by an outdoor viewing of the night sky, if weather permits. 12 at 8-9 p.m. - How to Select and Use a Telescope. Commonly asked questions about telescopes will be answered during this planetarium presentation. Questions such as: Which type of telescope should I get, what will I be able to see, or are they very expensive? 19 at 8-9 p.m. Our Solar System. These presentations provide lunar observation and planet exploration. Topics include: The Moon and the Sun, Eclipses and Occultation, the Planets, asteroids and comets. Join us in learning more about our local neighborhood. |
