Public Programming - 2011

Public Programming at the Planetarium - 2011

 

Tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for preteens and seniors; and free for SFCC students, SFCC employees and planetarium members.


Tickets go on sale at the door 30 minutes before each program. Shows begin promptly; latecomers are not admitted.

6 at 8-9 p.m.- Echoes of the Night This program features a selection of Native American stories.

7 at 8-9 p.m. - Backyard Astronomy
Enjoy a live presentation of the current skies in the Planetarium and an outdoor viewing of the night sky, if weather permits.

13 at 8-9 p.m.- Astronomy with Binoculars
In many ways, binoculars prove superior to telescopes for those staring out in astronomy. Come to the planetarium to learn why sometimes two eyes are better than one.

  14 at 8-9 p.m.- Practical Astrophotography:   Film

21 at 8-9 p.m.- Practical Astrophotography: Digital

20 at 8-9 p.m.- Constellation: Figures in the Sky
Ancient and modern, constellations are easy to find. Let us tell you how to find them!


 

 

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Regular programs are not suitable for children under 5 years old.

Two-thirds of humanity lives under skies polluted with light, and one-fifth can no longer see the Milky Way. Of all the pollution we face, light pollution is the most easily remedied.

17 at 8-9 p.m. - The Paradigm Shift: Copernicus, the dawn of the Scientific Age.

18 at 8-9 p.m.- The Paradigm Shift: Galileo, the compromise with the truth

25 at 8-9 p.m.- The Paradigm Shift: Kepler and Tycho, the Geometry in the Skies
