Several years ago, the New Mexico Legislature passed the Accountability in Government Act, requiring all state agencies to develop measures of accountability to be presented annually to the Legislative Finance Committee. They later added quarterly reports. With the help of the then New Mexico Association of Community Colleges' Institutional Researches, a set of Accountability Measures were adopted by all New Mexico community colleges and have been reported since then. They appear in the accompanying links.
#1 Student Success Rate -- Defined as the proportion of the cohort of students taking at least 9 credits of academic or vocational credits at entry who, three years later have either: a) completed a certificate or degree; b) transferred to another institution; c) are still enrolled at your institution; d) completed at least 18 credits of the common core and left.
#2 Economic Impact -- Defined as the proportion of all graduates or completers of a given year employed in New Mexico approximately 6 months to one year after graduation. The data is supplied by the Higher Education Department by matching degree files with Department of Labor Unemployment Insurance Data. It does not include those in the military, those self-employed and those employed out of state.
#3 Accessible and Affordable (A) -- For SFCC, the proportion of all enrolled students in a given year who are of Hispanic Origin. (The group chosen to be tracked varies by institution.) Note: for SFCC, although the proportion of Hispanics among the total enrolled has been declining, the proportion of Hispanic students among degree-seeking students has been increasing).
#4 Accessible and Affordable (B) -- For SFCC, the proportion of all graduates in a given year who are of Hispanic Origin. (The group chosen to be tracked varies by institution.)
#5 Service to New Mexicans (A) -- For SFCC, the number of Adult Basic Education Students served annually. (The group chosen to be tracked varies by institution).
#6 Service to New Mexicans (B) -- For SFCC, the number of students served by Contract Training Courses. (The group chosen to be tracked varies by institution).
#7 Efficient and Effective Use of Resources -- The proportion of program enrollments, averaged over three years, that are increasing, decreasing or stable in enrollments, with stability defined within a 5% margin.
#8 Fall to Fall Persistence Rates of First-Time, Full-Time Freshmen -- The proportion of the cohort of first-time, full-time new students entering in a given fall return as students at your institution the following fall semester.
#9 Job Placement plus Continuing Education - New Measure -- Data not yet available on other Institutions
#10 Graduation Rate - Percent of the cohort of first-time, full-time freshmen who graduate within three years of enrolling.
