What is Suspension Training?
Suspension training is a method of exercise where the user’s hands or feet are supported by a single anchor point while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground.
How Does it Work?
Suspension training accommodates variations in movement angles and planes of motion. Suspension training displaces the center of gravity, which activates the core musculature during every exercise. Suspension training accommodates variations in movement angles and planes of motion.
It’s Easy to Adjust Intensity
Change your body angle
- the steeper the angle, the greater the resistance
Change starting position
- moving towards or away from neutral will make the exercise easier or harder
Change the base of support
- move your feet apart, together, offset to add or decrease intensity
Timed Sets vs. Rep-based Sets
Instead of traditional rep-based sets, try working out on the suspension trainers using timed sets, performing as many repetitions as you can in the time allotted. Monitoring reps within a set time period is a great way to measure your improvements.
