Enrolling in CWA Courses

The College for Working Adults is a program within Santa Fe Community College and all students are eligible and encouraged to enroll in CWA courses. The content of each offered course is the same as one in the traditional 16-week schedule; however, what's different is the duration of the course and sometimes the class meeting's location.

Current Students
If you are currently a student at SFCC, to enroll in a CWA course follow the prescribed method for enrollment either through the Internet, by phone, or directly in the Enrollment Center on campus. The Schedule Of Credit Classes will supply you with the necessary information for registration.

Some courses carry prerequisites that must be completed successfully before a student may enroll in a course. Be sure that you have met the prerequisites for the courses you select.

First Time Students
If you a first time student at SFCC, you will need to obtain an identification number, an "A" number. This can be done online or at the enrollment center on campus. This "A" number will allow you to enroll for classes, register for placement tests, access web courses, and more.

Transfer Students
If you wish to transfer credits from another college or colleges, you must request that official transcripts be sent directly to the SFCC Registrar's Office. Under no circumstances will SFCC accept college transcripts directly from students. The Registrar's Office determines which courses qualify for transfer to SFCC. Request Transcript Forms.

Course Placement Testing
Assessment for proper course placement is mandatory at SFCC. This assessment is used to advise students about courses and services most appropriate to their skills. All students enrolling in courses with math, English or reading prerequisites or having math course work more than three years old must have their skills assessed.

Study Guides
Testing is done through Accuplacer, SFCC's primary placement too, a computer-based assessment that returns immediate results. Study guides for Accuplacer are available in the Testing Center or online at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/accuplacer/. Students are strongly encouraged to review study guides prior to testing. Placement testing results indicate which courses students must enroll to satisfy prerequisites, the minimum skill level necessary for success in a course. Testing is free, and no appointment is necessary.
