Student Government Association
WHAT IS SGA? SGA (the Student Government Association) is a governance group that represents all students on campus. We are regular students who are involved in campus life and want to make students' lives easier and more enjoyable. We are trying to make a difference on our campus by listening to students, taking their comments and suggestions into consideration and making positive changes whenever possible.
All Santa Fe Community College students enrolled for a minimum of a 1 credit bearing course are automatically members of the SGA and are welcome to attend SGA meetings. If you have concerns about what is happening on campus or would like to see a policy change, you should bring your concern to SGA. If you are interested in becoming more involved in campus governance, you can become a voting member of SGA by virtue of your participation in SGA events and regular meetings.

SFCC operates using a shared governance model. What this means is that if you do not actively express your views, someone else will do so in your name. The Student Government Association (SGA) not only acts as students' representatives on the Governance Council, but also determines how your student activities fees are spent, acts as an advocate for student needs on campus and has, on occasion, traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby Congress on your behalf. The SGA President is a non-voting member of SFCC's governing board.
