Office Of Student Development
The mission of the Office of Student Development is to guide, encourage, and support the SFCC community through our programs: Student Activities; Student Leadership; Career Services; and the Retention Programs. We create a community that fosters connection, wellness, lifelong learning, spirit, diversity, leadership and personal development. We are located in LL311 next to the Atrium.
Student Clubs: SFCC has more than 15 active student clubs on campus. Each of these clubs has been started based on common interests. Most student clubs are primarily active inthe fall and spring semesters of the academic year. Stop by our office to find out if anyone of the current clubs interests you or you can start one. Our office can fill you in on the steps and official procedures in order to get a club started. Wecan also assist you in recruiting other students.
Student Government Association (SGA): SGA serves as the official voice of the students, provides a foundation for unity, as well as a sense of community, among students and student groups at SFCC. The purpose of SGA is to represent the interests and concerns of the student body of Santa Fe Community College, to seek student input on issues, to act on and resolve student issues, to provide recommendations on student issues and to assume the responsibilities of participatory governance on behalf of students.
Student Ambassadors (STAM): The STAM team supports student retention and fosters student success through educational videos, classroom presentations, retention activity leadership, and representing the college on campus. STAM focuses on students during their first year to provide peer support in navigating college, preparing for research papers and exams, and finding resource support on campus. Students must apply in a competitive process to be a part of this highly regarded leadership team and earn a scholarship for their service.
Student Activities: Throughout the academic year various events and activities are offered to students to expand their knowledge, support their personal growth and improve their connection to other students and the college. They may include seasonal or holiday events, educational movies, speakers and special meals.
Career Services: Career Services provides guidance in career exploration, job search, and education & training through classroom presentations, seminars, job fairs and individual appointments. Services include interest assessments, access to a vast career information database, resumes and cover letters, job postings, job search coaching, interview practice, self-marketing workshops, job referrals, matching education and training with career goals, internship opportunities, and connecting to other colleges and non-traditional education and training options. All services are free to students and community members. For more information, visit the Career Services Web site at www.sfcc.edu/career_services.
