Points of Pride
The GROW Santa Fe Community College Foundation is proud to provide:
- Scholarships: Annually, over 155 scholarship awards of approximately $1,000 for each student per year for tuition and books based upon merit and need.
- Nursing Scholarships: Since 2007 we have awarded over 90 scholarships for tuition, books and general expenses. We have also provided scholarships to 80 students for required background checks and lab kits to more than 20 students. The Nursing Program is a 2-year highly affordable program at $4,000 for the degree.
- Sustainable Technologies Center: We received a $100,000 grant from Los Alamos National Lab for our cutting-edge green training programs in environmental technologies, facility technologies, solar energy, green building systems, construction skills and biofuels. We also collaborate with local businesses for tailored job training and to assist in building a local industry for alternative energy.
- Matching Funds: GROW provides matching funds for student emergencies, tuition and books. Funds are also provided for students who work part-time to enable them to take more classes and work less.
- Endowment: The GROW endowment is prudently managed to provide current scholarships and to maintain the funds for future scholarships.
- Support for SFCC: SFCC offers over 35 different associate degrees and 30 certificates. Respiratory therapy was added as a new program and the emergency medical tech program underwent improvements.
- Endowed Scholarships: Management of endowed funds from our donors provides more than 160 scholarships. This has helped increase our retention rate to 62% which is above the national average. More Hispanic students are staying in school and graduating in higher numbers at SFCC. There are 2,152 Hispanic students attending as of fall 2009 which is the highest number ever.
- Opportunity to Give: GROW provides an opportunity to donors for direct student support for books, tuition and emergencies. Donor interests are valued and matched with student goals. Donors can give depending upon their particular circumstances whether it is a gift of cash, a will or trust, bequeaths, memorial gifts or tax saving contributions. We provide service to our donors to leave a legacy for the future and support education.
